Students enrolled in medicine at the Faculty of Medical and Paramedical Sciences can do hospital internships abroad.

Who can apply?

Internships are reserved for graduate (DFASM) and postgraduate medical students.

Graduate students: summer hospital internships

Students in the 1st year of the Diploma of Advanced Training in Medical Sciences (DFASM1) can do a summer internship abroad. Each year the internships take place from 1 July to 31 August.

A total of 15% of the students in each class are allowed to leave.

The proposed destinations are allocated by order of merit, according to the ranking at the end of DFGSM3. Students can also make their own choice of destinations country, following a specific procedure.

Postgraduate students: internships abroad

Medicine residents who have validated at least 4 training courses may request to complete 1 or 2 consecutive internships abroad (non-subdivisional training courses).

These internships may be carried out as observers or as acting resident.

They are organised without registration at the Faculty of Medical and Paramedical Sciences, and do not lead to certification.

They are subject to :

  • the acceptance of a Head of Departement at the Assistance Publique des Hôpitaux de Marseille (AP-HM) and of the Medical Affairs Department of the AP-HM
  • the agreement of the director of the medical training and research unit, or of the chairman of the coordinating committee for medical studies, after evaluation of the pedagogical quality of the place of internships, of the doctor identified as responsible for the intern and of the conditions of teaching equivalence which may be granted.
