The 3rd long cycle of odontological studies (internship) is open to those wishing to specialize.
Objective
The 3rd long cycle is open to students who wish to specialize in a particular field:
- Dentofacial orthopedics (3 years)
- Oral medicine (3 years)
- Oral surgery (4 years)
Access to training
Ranking at the end of the national dental internship competition (ODT) is taken into account for access to the 3rd long cycle.

Specialized thesis defense
At the end of their 3 or 4 years' training, interns in oral medicine, dentofacial orthopedics and oral surgery are required to pass all examinations and defend a thesis.
The Diplôme d'études spécialisées is awarded in addition to the Diplôme d'Etat de Docteur en chirurgie dentaire (thesis).
